REVEREND JAMES J. AMBROGI

1936 – 2016

Reverend James J. Ambrogi, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Patrick Parish, Malvern, died at Bryn Mawr Hospital, on Friday, November 18, 2016.
Father Ambrogi was born on January 24, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Walter Thomas Ambrogi and the late Mary (Robinson) Ambrogi. Father Ambrogi attended Our Lady of Lourdes Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Ambrogi was ordained on May 16, 1964, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Ambrogi served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary Magdalen De Pazzi Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Mary of the Eternal Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Gabriel Parish, Philadelphia; Saint John of the Cross Parish, Roslyn; Saint Monica Parish Philadelphia; Stella Maris Parish, Philadelphia; Pastor of King of Peace Parish, Philadelphia. In June 1989, he was appointed Pastor, Saint Patrick Parish, Malvern, and named Pastor Emeritus there in 2011.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Patrick Church, Malvern, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be held at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Ambrogi at Saint Patrick Church, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Among those concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Michael Picard, Reverend Monsignor Donald Leighton. Reverend Monsignor David Diamond, Reverend Christopher Redcay, Reverend Daniel Devine, Reverend James McBride and Reverend Matthew Guckin. Monsignor Diamond will be the homilist.

Father Ambrogi is survived by his brother, William Ambrogi, and many nephews and neices. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
